Fall classes are underway and first Tech Club meeting too!

October 2013

We are well into our school year, 2013-2014!  Grades 3 through 8 created powerpoints - refreshing old skills, learning new ones!  Classes have been typing for keyboard skill development, typing to integrate writing skills into computer classes,
doing various creative works, and using online resources for investigating current events.  Tech Club met on Monday, October 21!  24 students worked hard to present project ideas!

Spring 2012

The big spring project in the computer lab is the Eighth Grade Graduation video.  Students bring in photos to scan or copy from digital format, then use them to create a video using Windows Moviemaker.  They choose music for their individual sections of the video.  They learn editing skills...  All the while learning to take responsibility for their individual work as well as work in dynamic team settings.

Other classes wrapped up the year with typing skills and their own class projects.

School Year 2011 - 2012

New this year is the TLS Tech Club!  Once a month or every six weeks, the club would meet after school for an hour and a half to learn more about technology (okay, sometimes we would game a bit!!).  We learned about webpages, scanning photos, the school iPad2, powerpoint presentations, and peripheral equipment (how to connect a projector to a computer, for example).

As mentioned above, the school purchased an iPad2, then assigned eighth and seventh grade  students a 'take home' week so that the students and their families could learn more about Apple's touch technology!
